Strategy
IV Holdings is an early-stage venture company that supports entrepreneurs who are working to build lasting value in their companies. Putting our full support behind ventures that inspire our passion, we provide services to entrepreneurs through the implementation of our partnership-based development programs.
Our approach emphasizes interactivity, both between IV Holdings and its portfolio as well as directly among the entrepreneurs we invest into, and among a global Arab audience. We offer ideas, strategic support, business contacts, capital, and our time to get the job done to ensure our ventures succeed.
We focus on being the first investor in internet, media, and mobile services companies that show strong growth potential and stand poised to shape the Arab interactive landscape. We are open to co-investing with others in special ventures that afford us the opportunity to play the role of lead investor. We invest for the long term, and expect our partners to share the same belief in their ventures.
Areas of interest
IV Holdings supports ventures in the following areas:
- Online and interactive ventures predominantly within the Arab World, but also from outside of the region as warranted.
- Consumer-facing portals with a clear business model
- Soft-infrastructure companies, with emphasis on mobile and IPTV content delivery platforms, and online advertising networks
- Arabic content companies with clear interactivity and syndication potential
- Regional expansion of local online and interactive leaders.
Investment Size and Policy
The average investment size for IV Holdings is expected to be around US$750,000, with a range of US$250,000 – US$2 million per investment. IV Holdings targets a minority stake (not less than 25%) with full controls in a target company, with majority exceptions for specialized services companies that acquire revenues from our portfolio companies.
IV Holdings’ investment policy focuses on optimized investment structures that include preferred shares, milestone-based closings, vesting of founders, anti-dilution and down-round protection, exit facilities, and introduce employee stock options. Investment focus is geared towards Series A investing, which includes completion of product and/or service development, development of strategic business plan, strengthening of management teams, and enhancement of governance and internal controls.
Approach
Our investment process consists of five stages: screening, preliminary evaluation, analysis and non-binding term sheet, due diligence completion, documentation and investment, and finally, investment management and hands on support.
A typical deal would be concluded within the space of three months after receipt of a complete business plan from a prospective investment.
